Fantastic Festivals in Wisconsin’s Grant and Crawford Counties

horseBoscobel’s Muskets and Memories Civil War Reenactment attracts thousands of participants and spectators from around the world each year. Horses, cannons, muskets, and battle cries make this large-scale reenactment truly memorable. Don’t miss your chance to see uniformed infantry, cavalry, artillery, and medical staff re-enact drills, a battle, and the fighting’s aftermath. After the battle, play, shop, and eat Civil War era style at parties, gardens, and shops.

The Prairie Villa Rendezvous is a nineteenth century style, riverside festival in Prairie du Chien. Eat food cooked over an open fire; watch old-fashioned blacksmiths, musicians, weavers, story-tellers, and more in action; and try your hand at black powder shooting or cooking prairie-style to win a prize. After the Rendezvous, find great bargains and handmade crafts at the Flea Market, and chow down at the Food Festival.

To journey even further back in time, visit the Warriors and Warlords Celebration in Boscobel, hosted by the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). See kings, queens, peasants, and noblemen complete with medieval mannerisms, frocks, and names. Join in the medieval celebration with dances, archery contests, combats, merchandise, food, and other fun.
